Export & Import

Pro JoomBook can export your JoomBook data as a ZIP archive and import it again - for migrating to another installation. It is explicitly not a backup (see below).
This feature is available from the Pro Plan onwards.
Export and import are located under JoomBook → Settings → General Settings in the "Export Data" and "Import Data" cards.
Not a backup. This export is not a backup; it transfers data to another installation. Not included are the waiting list, pricing rules, the Google Calendar link, and the licence key and access credentials. For real backups, use the database backup provided by your host or a backup extension.
Exporting Data
- Tick the desired sections under "Select the data sections to export"
- Click Start Export
A ZIP archive is downloaded containing the selected sections as structured data. Available sections:
- Settings & Colour Scheme
- Locations
- Services & Categories
- Staff (working hours, breaks, days off and calendar blocks)
- Customers GDPR
- Appointments GDPR
- Notification Log
Customer and appointment data is subject to the GDPR and is not ticked by default. Store export files securely.
Importing Data
- Under "Import Data", upload your JoomBook import file (.zip) and click Upload & Verify File
- The confirmation screen shows the included data sections
- Choose the import mode:
- Merge - existing data is kept, new records are added
- Overwrite - the affected tables are cleared and re-populated
- For overwrite, the warning names the affected sections and you must tick the confirmation "I understand what will be deleted and want to continue." - without the tick the import does not run
- Click Start Import Now
Overwrite deletes irreversibly. Only the sections the file brings are cleared and replaced. Two things matter here:
- Sections the file does not contain stay behind. If those are appointments or customers, they may then point to services, staff or locations that no longer exist in that form - the assignment is then wrong, with no message shown.
- Overwrite also deletes services and staff that still have future appointments. In the normal lists that is exactly what is blocked; the import bypasses that guard.
An import does not restore a previous state. The licence key and access credentials of this installation are left untouched.
